Is the focus on Palin's family over the top?

Lalita Amos | 09/06/2008 - 13:10
No. By pitching her family values as chief amongst her qualifications, she asked for it.

Yes. Family is off limits no matter how much the candidate use them.

Not sure. It seems that we're supposed to consider family and other personal aspects--even if they don't impact policy.

From a group who parroted the "Just Leave Chelsea Alone!" farce as she particpated in the campaign (as an adult, mind you), crying crocodile tears about being asked to leave Governor Palin's family (of mainly non-adults) alone is both hypocritical and just plain mean.

The thing is, we have all been distracted by Governor Palin for too long already. Quit paying attention to the Republican strategy. They are playing us for fools, and we have just been following right along. Rove's disciples must be laughing their collective behinds off behind closed doors.

MelissaT | 09/06/2008 - 14:45 |  Policies v. Privacy.

I think if your policy is one that fundamentally conflicts with your private life then those disparities (to an extent) should be made public. I don't want the POTUS governing with a "Do as I Say, Not as I Do" mentality. Should this be a complete media free-for-all. Absolutely not. Personal issues made public should be inherently linked with their policy (or proposed policies) and NOT just general debasing of people's private lives or excessive media coverage of gossamer connections just so they have something to spend the other 23 hours on "news".

If Neo-Con America seems to think that all we have to do to raise healthy, "moral" children is make then eat their broccoli, tell them to abstain from sex before marriage and, most importantly, indoctrinate them with a rather massive dose of Christianity (or Judaism if you're feeling a smidge rebellious. And considering they didn't have to grant this exception, but did it out of the sheer benevolence that overflows their sweet little Christian hearts- no other exceptions will be made)

As a mother of two young children listening to a woman who wants to hold the second highest office in our nation who, essentially, wants to dictate how I should raise my children I am offended at the hypocrisy of her. Your policies have to be consistent. You can't pick and choose who to apply your rules to. I want to see Hillary go up against this GunToting-MooseSkinning-ÜberChristian-AntiChoice Wingnut just ONCE... I think some of this drama could be laid to rest if she were challenged on "her own turf". No one could play the Gender Card and we'd all have a chance to really find out what to Sara's policies (or lack thereof) for America are.

Is Hillary Clinton a Good Choice for Secretary of State?
Yes. She is knowledgable and has already established good relations with foreign heads of state.
0%
No. Nothing against Hillary, but Bill is a loose canon and would be a constant distraction and/or embarrassment.

Yes. We get two for one: a former President and a knowledgable Secretary of State.
0%
No. Her judgment is flawed, as demonstrated by her vote for the Iraq War.
