By an overwhelming margin, voters believe that Biden "won" the debate and that Palin's attacks fell flat. Her attacks were unsuccessful not just because they were delivered in such a parroting manner, but because the nature of the attacks themselves are unappealing to the electorate. Biden’s attacks were advocacy-oriented, which Palin’s were adversary-oriented. When Biden lashed out, even when referencing McCain, he did so for or against policy proposals and political philosophies. When Palin lashed out, she lashed out at Obama or Biden, as individuals.
