John McCain and Haggee

Lalita Amos | 04/04/2008 - 14:01

While John McCain sits quietly back in Memphis, no doubt swaying and clapping to the strains of some Black gospel choir in Memphis, saying little about PastorGate (Reverend Wright and Barack Obama), I think it's important to listen to Reverend Haggee, John McCain's Reverend Wright. Notice how little lingering chatter there is about this when the news, the papers, and the blogs continue to excoriate Wright and, by extension, Senator Obama.

Haggee, white, calls an entire religion "the great whore" and suggests that Katrina happened to punish the city of New Orleans for a gay pride parade which, as it turns out, never happened.

Wright, Black, has been reduced to a kind of evil bigot. Wonder what Haggee would have had to have done for his comments to still be on the RADAR? I guess spewing unadorned, venomous hatred every single sermon (not just a 30 second sound bites's worth) isn't enough.
