Clinton Crosses a Line--and It's Unforgiveable

Sheila Suess Kennedy | 05/23/2008 - 16:33

Hillary Clinton's most recent explanation of why she remains in the race is...believe it or not..that like Bobby Kennedy, Barack Obama could be assassinated.

This is beyond disgusting.

Lalita Amos | 05/24/2008 - 00:25 |  Here's What Senator Clinton Said about RFK

Here's all of what she said in context.

Actually, at first blush, it didn't seem particularly heinous--just a very unartful way of saying that there is a historical precedent for holding on through June. I found myself resisting piling on as pundit after pundit, well, piled on. However, I remembered that months back she used this kind of reference in another speech (that fell flat). OK, so she's a former First Babe, and murder prevention was at the top of the list for those surrounding the POTUS but I find it appalling that she could use this reference in a sentence on more than one occasion.

In this clip, Senator Clinton seems visably subdued and perhaps saddened by her turn on the mea culpa chair. Senator C, bet you long for the days when Senator Obama referred to "your chosen people" as clingy, gun-totin', religious zealots.

To give both candidates a break, I can't think it's humanly possible to talk non-stop and on camera for 15 months without having to apologize for eating one's shoe.

It sure does make for interesting television, though.

Poll
Will the Choice of Biden and not Bayh Make it Harder for Obama to Win Indiana?
Yes. Evan Bayh would have energized Indiana Democrats and "tipped" the state.
0%
Maybe. But choosing Bayh would have made it much, much harder to win the election.
60%
No. Indiana voters know Bayh, and choosing him would have reflected poorly on Obama's judgment.
40%
Hard to say.
