On CNN's Special...

Several comments and thoughts on the two shows that aired the 23rd & 24th.

I wish they would have played the two parts in reverse order actually. (especially since it was a two part series and some may have only seen one show or the other) They seemed to focus on educational disparities and how education plays an essential roll in solving the problems faced w/i the Black community in the first episode when it might have been better (and perhaps more encouraging) to either discuss it last or at least close the series by reiterating the points made concerning the importance of education as a solution.

I realized something about "white guilt" while watching this series. Quite a few times I found myself getting a bit emotional at some of the stories, statistics and perspectives offered. It seems to me that there are two "flavors" of white guilt. The kind primarily based on the historic injustices that have occured- which seems like it breeds a resentment based feeling that, "I can't help what my ancestors did..." and another kind of guilt based on the knowledge and understanding that there IS a disparity that remains between race (and class) in our society and that there isn't a whole lot that we, as individuals, can do to affect the widespread changes that need to be made. In all honesty, the latter is something I find myself feeling very deeply at times. I am very cognizant of the priveledge posessed solely by virtue of my skin color, but I don't feel that I am any more deserving of that priveledge than anyone else and I attmept to keep that knowledge in check. I do what I can to educate myself, my children, those around me and stand up for the injustices that I see, but at times it just feels like draining an ocean drop by drop.

Is Hillary Clinton a Good Choice for Secretary of State?
Yes. She is knowledgable and has already established good relations with foreign heads of state.

No. Nothing against Hillary, but Bill is a loose canon and would be a constant distraction and/or embarrassment.

No. Her judgment is flawed, as demonstrated by her vote for the Iraq War.
